![]() The only way to save the sunbeam, is to FINISH the story. Seemed odd.Originally posted by MiddleAgedWerewolf:Unfortunately enough players complained and forced the devs to waste time and change the story so you can save the f**king SunBeam instead of enjoy the story that they worked so hard to make. I mean, the gun didn't even retract to go back into resting mode. I just felt like there should have been some kind of follow-up. ![]() "is that is? Well, I guess I should head back home then." last firework goes off, then everyone just stands there going. It's like watching the end of a 4th of July fireworks display. You just sit there and watch the debris fall down and nothing. What I thought was interesting was after it exploded. I guess they want to have that event happen early in order to inspire a sense of dread / strandedness in the player. I start the game, mess around a bit, and before I know it I'm ushered towards the island to watch the sunbeam come in when it feels like I haven't progressed very far in the game. It just seemed like the Sunbeam rescue was really rushed. let me finish exploring the Aurora and get the "energy origin" signal that points to the mountain island and maybe go check that out before the sunbeam starts talking to me. it seems like they should direct you towards certain events before signaling others. You can literally do what you want in whatever order, and not feel like you're forced on rails. this means the game is pretty self-paced / open world. The aurora's signal was pointing me to the mountain island with the gun after things have already gone down there. and that's when I get the signal pointing to the "energy origin" (where the gun is). then I finally get around to finishing off the Aurora exploration. instead of just watching them die, I tried to see if I could save them even though I was pretty sure they were boned.)Īnyways, all of that transpires. (So, I guess the timer does what it's supposed to do. I went into the base, checked things out, and sort of rushed around to see if I could disable the gun. With a timer going, I decided to drop what I was doing and check it out. I ended up getting a slew of messages for the Sunbeam, and finally got pointed to the island to go watch it land. So, I went back to my pod and just built a bunch of stuff and explored. I think they could work on the sequence of messages.Ī lot of messages seem to be triggered based on things you do, but if you "skip ahead" on stuff it seems like the game tosses messages at you in an odd order.ĮG: I fixed the Aurora, but didn't have a laser cutter. But any more timed missions known to be in the game? ![]() Anyway it looks like I should take the message. They were writing at the same time as me, just hit the post button faster. Is it pushing me towards rescue already? (I thought they got shot out of the sky?) Are there more timed missions? I reloaded my save prior to taking that message to avoid it, should i take it and not worry about it? My AAA personality is killing me :D Thanks to all.Įdit: I just saw two posts, put up like a minute apart from mine, haha. I have read (previously before the last major update) about some spoiler issues that may come up, but nothing about this timed mission. ![]() I just built my first base and hardly have done much exploring. A timer comes up onto the PDA screen with a countdown.I don't like timed situations for one thing, but the major thing is, is this now pushing me forward at a faster rate into situations I have to hurray to resolve. The thing is (Stop reading if you don't want a spoiler) I get a transmission for a timed episode for the Sunbeam to go to the island. I listen to all the transmissions coming up in the lifepod as soon as they are beeping. I like to take my time and explore, gathering materials and such. I started playing a new game yesturday for a few hours and not very far into it.
